A roster the calendar and the ticket both use
Staff in BookThing are entries on the business's roster, not separate accounts. Only the owner signs in; a staff member is a name, a photo, the services they perform, and a schedule — assigned to appointments and tracked on reports.
Add a staff member
A new staff member gets a name, an optional photo, and the set of services they perform — picked from the business's own service list.
Hours of their own, or the business's
By default a staff member follows the business's opening hours. Switching that off opens a seven-day editor for their own hours instead, so a schedule change to the shop doesn't silently leave one member on the old hours.
Assign appointments to staff
A booking or an edit to an existing appointment can name which staff member it goes to; with staff assigned, the calendar can be filtered down to one person at a time.
Deactivate instead of delete
A staff member no longer working can be marked inactive rather than removed — they drop out of the active roster and can be reactivated later.
A growing roster, one dashboard
Growing the team does not add complexity: every new staff member is added and tracked from the same owner account, the same screens.

Ownership is re-checked on every write
Only the user matching the owner field on the company document can create, update, reorder or delete a staff member, their hours, or a time-off entry; the rule checks this separately on every single write.
An unpublished business's roster stays hidden
Until the business is published, only its owner can read the staff list, a staff member's hours or their time off; once published, any signed-in user can read them.
Suspension does not block writing server-side
In the panel, staff-related fields and actions open read-only or disappear when the business is suspended, but that is only an interface restriction; the server-side rule still accepts the owner writing staff information for a suspended business.
- Staff ListThe list of every staff member on the business's roster: adding, activating/deactivating, reordering in the panel, and the entry point into each staff member's own screens.
- Staff FormThe form used to create a new staff member or edit an existing one: name, photo, and the services they can perform.
- Staff HoursThe screen that decides whether a staff member follows the business's general hours or uses a schedule of their own.
- Time OffIn the panel, the list of a staff member's planned full-day or partial time off.
- Time Off FormIn the panel, the form for creating a new time-off entry for a staff member or editing an existing one: date, full day or specific time ranges, and an optional reason.
