Conversation
What this screen is for
Opens a single thread itself: shows its messages oldest to newest, lets a new message with text and one image be written, shows when the other side is typing, and carries the action to report this one thread. A draft thread with no server record yet also opens here — nothing is created until the first message is sent.
When you would use this
A user is here while actively exchanging messages with the other side of a thread — asking a new question, adding an image to a message, or reading and replying to something just sent. Unlike the conversations list, this is the exchange itself with one counterpart, not a row in a list.
Who sees it
Either side of the thread — the customer or the business owner in this conversation — can open this screen; the server refuses both reading and writing to anyone who is neither.
Where it lives
This screen exists only on the mobile app. The panel's conversations screen offers the same functionality — reading messages, writing, sending an image, seeing the typing indicator, reporting — without ever moving to a separate screen, inside the same page as the conversation list.
What you can do here
Write and send a message
The text box accepts up to 2000 characters; an empty message cannot be sent.
Attach an image
A single image from the gallery is staged and sent along with the message; only one image can be staged at a time before the next message is sent, and picking a new one replaces the one already staged.
See the other side typing
A notice line appears once the other side starts typing, and disappears on its own shortly after they stop.
Start a new thread
Opened as a draft, this screen creates nothing until the first message is sent; that message either creates the thread or joins a thread this pair already has. Opening the screen and changing your mind leaves no record behind.
Report the thread
This single thread can be reported through the same moderation flow the rest of the app uses, whether it is closed or blocked.
Read stamp
Opening the screen updates this side's own last-read time to the server clock; the other side's messages after that stamp count as unread.
What the server accepts and refuses
The typing indicator may not appear on every thread
The indicator can be turned off entirely by a server-side switch; while off it never appears on any thread, no matter what the other side is actually doing.
A blocked thread cannot be written to
When the business has blocked this customer, the composer is never shown; the server also refuses a write to the same thread independently.
A customer may start at most 5 new threads a day
This limit covers only the customer side, and only starting a NEW thread; joining an existing one, or a business writing to its own customer, does not count against it.
A new thread can't be started with a business that has messaging off
When a business has turned messaging off from the panel, an attempt to start a new thread is refused; a thread already open is unaffected, and either side can keep writing in it.
