Language Settings

What this screen is for

Changes the app's interface language. Either the device's default language can be followed, or one of eleven languages can be pinned; the interface redraws in that language the moment a choice is made.

When you would use this

A reader comes here when the app did not open in the device's language, or when they want to use the interface in a different language.

Who sees it

Every user, signed in or not, can reach this screen and its choice; the language preference belongs to the device, not the account.

Where it lives

The screen exists on the mobile app only.

What you can do here

Follow the system default

The first row in the list follows the device's own language setting; while it is selected, the app tracks the device's language as it changes.

Pick a language

Any of eleven languages can be picked; the choice applies instantly, with no separate save step or app restart required.

What the server accepts and refuses

The choice is stored on this device only

The language preference lives in the device's own storage, not on the account; another device signed into the same account uses its own language preference or system default.

The system default clears an override rather than picking a language

Tapping the first row does not select a specific language; it forgets the one previously chosen and falls back to the device's language.
